Still August - still Summer

Sitting here and looking out of my window towards the hillside l notice how it is starting to take on a richer hue- the trees have started to turn and with todays rain it just feels like Autumn is creeping slowly nearer – how quickly the seasons seem to pass.

We've had a wonderful summertime – camped down in Cornwall and bought a new tent; took our son (Sam) and granddaughter (Ollie) to the Sea Life Centre at Loch Lomond and spent many many other days down by the beach or at the parks. I took advantage of every good day and still am (taking advantage of these days) - hanging out washings and enjoying just being outside.

This past weekend our little town hosted the annual Highland Gathering where pipe bands and people from all over the world came to participate and enjoy. For me this was the highlight of our 'summertime' but also an event that tends to mark the end of it for us locals. The buzz and lively atmosphere fades as quickly as the visitors leave and the bunting is taken down to be packed away until next time.

On Saturday we had a big family dinner and watched the firework finale down by the waterfront– a balmy evening shared together as we waved at the coach loads of people leaving and watched as the ferries pulled out from the pier.

And on Sunday morning l drove through the town when there was not a soul- a different world – a sleepy world recouping.

I hope you have all had a lovely Summertime so far - that you have had good harvests and good times spent.

Is the sealife place new? It's just that I can't recall seeing it. Scotland is nice whatever the season. We have been going to Inveraray in Septamber or October for quite a few years now and experienced alsorts of weather but always had a great time - the proof being in the fact that we keep going back. Another thing I like is that people stop and talk to you even though they don't know you. Mostly the only time people talk to you here is when they want something so you should cherish that fact. I'm pleased you had a nice weekend.

Hello dear Sarah,
What a topsy turvy time you've had this summer...weather and healthwise! I'm so happy to know the news at the big hospital turned out to be GOOD!! Thank the good Lord!
Can you believe it's September already, and autumn is just around the corner? Summer goes by in the blink of an eye it seems.
We did have a lovely summertime, thank you...also with topsy turvy weather, but enjoyable nonetheless.
I wish those summer days and beautiful evenings could go on and on....
I've had the best time, as usual, reading your lovely thoughts. You have such a gift for sharing them :)
That photo of Sam hugging Ollie is adorable.
Hugs across the water to you, dear friend. xox

Dear Sarah ~~ I am glad you had a great summer and it is still nice there until Autumn really sets in. Our Spring is here and the weather has been so nice.
I think it is about 100 days until Christmas and the shops here have the goods out already too. Too early and too soon- the year has flown by.

How nice to have your little Ollie while her Mum studies. Your daughter is so like you, and so is the granddaughter. The photo of Sam and Ollie is lovely. She is lucky to have a
big "brother" in her uncle.

Thank you for your words and you are often on my mind as well. Take care, my
friend. Love and Hugs, Merle. xo

Sarah,
Seems so long since I've visited your blog! I think of you often...we were in Athens, Georgia on Wednesday of this week. Our grandson was in a tennis tournament and then we met a twin granddaughter who attends UGA for lunch.

Aren't grandchildren wonderful? We are blessed with eight.

Sam is a handsome young man.

Blessings,
Betty @ Country Charm
