Shelter from the storm

It has been a good weekend. My G. is on holiday for the week so l am enjoying him being at home. Today Daniel was back to his university work and Melissa to her last year of studies in high school. When wee Sam went to his nursery today G. took me out for the ‘big breakfast’ at a local restaurant – mega calories and who cares on a day like today - we sat overlooking the sea whipped into a foaming frenzy by squalls. The storms have been so strong around here that even the ferry-boats were cancelled. We sat in the warm sipping hot tea and watched a late and sorry sailboat limping in and glad to make it. It was nice to have a little time together – hold hands and run through the rain.
This afternoon l have been busy looking for Christmas gifts online- trying to make things a bit easier and cheaper. Every year gets more expensive and pressure to ‘buy buy buy’. Not really what it was intended to be about is it anymore? But the ‘magic’ and the lights and the excitement is great for children – of all ages - for we are all children at heart.
The photos are of the back garden this past weekend- you can see the Maple tree with it’s beautiful red foliage. It mostly rained all weekend but we were happy and the sun shone in our house.
Bests all

I hope the birds up there have strong wings cos they're going to need them if they scoff that lots!! I know what you mean about buying presents, I don't mind giving, in fact I like it but how often do we buy something and the other person doesn't really want it?

A lovely posting and lovely pictures, its so nice to see your handsome family.
What a romantic breakfast outing you had with G, I’m sure the remainder of your week together will be equally so too. Its good to see that your garden still has lots of colour. We are having strong winds in Wales, its really whipping the leaves around.

I so much enjoyed the drive through the Glen with you, stunning scenery, rather like Wales but on a vaster scale. Marion

It's so lovely to have your hubby with you together for a long time. It must be difficult figuring out what to buy for everybody, but there's where the fun is!

It doesn't look as if the birds will be going hungry this Winter! ;-) I enjoyed your comment so much on my 'conversion' entry, Horizon. I know exactly how YOU feel, too...I have had my ups and downs in my own church life as well. But I've been slowly...slowly...learning it isn't the building I worship in that counts, it's what I have and feel in my heart. Someone once told me "You can't look at the people!" and that is so true, but it's SO against human nature to do so. Something I know I struggle with all the time. I go with the thought that my church is my place to worship -- I try to leave all the rest behind. And, with God's grace, I'm able to do so MOST of the time. If Heaven was an easy place to get to, I'm thinkin' everyone would be running to get in. Alas, we have to run the race and fight the fight before we'll ever enter in. (((HUG)))
