Through the eyes of a child.

My five-year -old son lately has been asking the sort of question that younger children are famous for, the kind where you probably ought to know the answer but don't exactly. So, not to fob him off with a ‘just because’ you try to explain why bugs bite, why dogs chase cats and why nana’s hair is turning grey but then you realize that you’re not so clued up about it yourself ~ especially when he starts to ask the deeper follow-up questions on the finer points of what was your answer..help!
It’s at this stage you turn to the computer – thank goodness for Google and sites like this one called, HOW STUFF WORKS.

A quick speed-read and then you’re back to help prolong your child’s warming illusion about your knowledge and expertise in all. No will-o'-the-wisp answers allowed.
This morning’s question was, “Why is the sky blue?”. Do you know why the sky is blue?

Wee S has also been taking lots of photographs lately. I let him borrow my camera and off he goes.
Below are the photos that S has been taking- l love the childhood innocence that shines through.

I'm going to check out that link, because, no, I don't know why the sky is blue!
Sam did very well as a photographer, and I agree, the innocence just shines through!
My grandson loves taking photos with the digital camera also.

No, I didn't know why the sky is blue but I do now! What a great site. Just a shame my little one is thirty-something and there are no little ones to give the answers to yet!

Looks like he inherited his mum photography gene. And now you'll have to explain to him what a gene is.

The lad has a nice eye for a photograph, the self portrait is particularly good. And blow me down, if I didnt take a similar photo of a shower on Iona - just to bring home to the man of the house to show how the shower curtain was fixed!

I waved across the Clyde from the train to the road you must use when you drive off the ferry into Glasgow!

Hey sweet friend...I just want you to tell wee "S" that he did an excellent job with his photography! As for myself I think every child needs to be given the opportunity to photograph the world as they see it! Now, go develope those pics and get him a photo book of his own ;)

Yes indeed...Sam has his mum's photography gene! He's a creative artist too! I love that huge sketching pad! And he plays golf too! Probably a pro by now :)
I'd love to have heard you explaining how the sky is blue. I followed the link and read it, then tried to think how to put it in "kid language" :)
You're always teaching.....thanks :)
Have a wonderful weekend! (did I say that already?) Well, have a really wonderful weekend!

I do know why the sky is blue but only because I had to look it up when my kids were younger.

I enjoyed the pics.

Now we'll have two sources of information to turn to - Google and Horizon.

I'm sure Sam's having fun with the camera - thank heavens for digital. I find that I look at things in more detail if I want to take a photo. You know, sizing it up to see if it will make a good picture. Hopefully, Sam's little adventures will help him to see everything more clearly too.

Hope you are keeping well and not being flooded like the poor souls down south.

Oh my goodness...I can't believe I finally got on! I got a message saying the email I sent got delayed so I dunno if it ever reached you. I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your lovely comment and also wee Sam's slide show. I agree with everything you said in your comment...if you DID get my email, I don't want to repeat myself, ha! Hope this finds you well, dear friend, and not getting washed away by all the rain that's been falling in your part of the world. (((((HUG))))))

I posted about my son Najid and his obsession to our digital camera too weeks ago! He snapped the same things that Sam did..the cartoon characters, himself, his feet, the furnitures, the cat, his toys..and I love to see all those innocent things from the innocent eyes! Najid asked recently how to get big muscles..and has been checking his arm muscles everyday now!
