Behind the green door

Many people have read the Dan Brown books. In his book, 'The Da Vinci Code' he talks of finding the 'keystone'.

Silas knew the information he had gleaned from his victims would come as a shock. "Teacher, all four confirmed the existence of the clef de voƻte . . . the legendary keystone."

In architecture, a keystone is the stone at the top of an arch. It is the supporting element for the entire arch— without it the arch would collapse (in a cathedral dome the keystone holds the intersecting ribs).

In the first picture you can see a generic "true" stone arch above the door- the centre block being the 'keystone'.

I just love the colours and textures of this old place.

Oh Horizon, what a fascinating place that farm is! It really does look like being in another era from days gone by. Speaking of the DaVinci Code, I haven't seen it yet but think I will go rent the DVD for this coming weekend!! xox

Yes please. I'd like to live there, too. It's like something out of a story book.

I love the pictures and the information, I read some of the books and of course The Da Vinci code and at the time maybe I did what it was but thank you for refreshing my memory.
Thank you for your kind wishes, I am doing much better.

What wonderful, evocative pictures! I can smell the air and those chickens look like they were supplied by Central Casting - absolutely perfect :D

This farm looks like something from a James Herriot book. It's absolutely....well, picturesque, for want of a better word. Gorgeous pictures, with the green doors, and the chickens, and the old walls, and....on and on. Just beautiful. Thank you!
