Ahh, wonderful things: a decent brew and a quality marmalade.
A brew (not the alcoholic kind although l like those too) : TEA
Tea is the world's most popular beverage. From the north of Russia to the tip of southern Africa, from the West Coast of America to the Far East, tea is enjoyed in endless different ways. Its versatility makes it the perfect drink, adaptable to every climate and culture. I like it hot.
What better to go with a hot brew than a jammy piece (A jam sandwich: plain bread smeared liberally with butter and jam); for me that jammy piece would be a marmalade one.
Marmalade- the best jeely piece around and another Scottish invention!
▪ Marmalade: James Keiller (1775-1839) In 1797 James Keiller (1775-1839), a Dundee grocer, bought a shipment of Seville oranges that tasted too bitter to sell. His wife Margaret boiled them and added sugar and that's how marmalade was invented. Keiller's became one of the biggest names in the making of marmalade and preserves and exported throughout the world.
Possibly my love of Marmalade (and duffle coats) came from a childhood cartoon, 'Paddington Bear' : Paddington bear speaks English although he comes from darkest Peru. He wears a Duffle Coat, Wellington boots and a battered hat which he refuses to part with. He is always polite and well-meaning (though he inflicts hard stares on those who incur his disapproval), loves marmalade sandwiches, and has an endless capacity for getting into trouble. However, he is known to "try so hard to get things right".
More likely however my love of this delicious nectar came from my father. My dad is a connoisseur of marmalades and makes his own. Whiskey marmalade is my favorite – just the smell is enough to blow your socks off ~ a fantastic kick start in the morning!
What can you not live without?

I look Paddington Bear. My brother makes marmalade. His last one was a grapefruit. Very different, sweet, yet tangy...
Oop! That should say I love Paddington bear. My goodness, I can't type before I've had my morning coffee! :-)
Now I want a jammy piece, thankya...
I'm not a hot tea drink...I mean I will drink it...just don't love it...I do love my first cup of coffee in the morning...sweetened and with a dash a milk...now I'm off to the kitchen to see if I can find my ingredients...will pear preserves work instead of marmelade? I think so yes, it will work very well...off I go...brb...
mmmmmmmm...this is very good...normally I toast the bread...you don't??
The pear preserves I picked up at the farmers market this past Saturday and just now opened...it had a cut little gingham under the lid.
Like I say Yummy...I will go listen to your music now and enjoy my jammy piece...
I've always loved Paddington Bear and used to watch him on tv with the boys when they were little:-) I also love marmalade on toast but I'm not a tea drinker at all. I'm not even much of a coffee drinker...I love milk though, I guess I'm still a kid at heart! lol
I love orange marmalade on toast anytime of day...and my tea iced with plenty of sugar and lemon.
But what can I not live without? My computer of course because it connects me to you.
Don't know about the whisky marmalade but am willing to try it lol. I love marmalade on toast in the morning with my first cup of tea. Funny though I only drink it in our winter here. Summer tends to be too hot and all you want is water with ice. Sure I wil be drinking heaps in Scotland though. I drink tetley decaf hint hint.
As for paddington bear I love him too Jonah has a pair of overalls with him on them, sill post a pic of him in them soon.xx
I'm a marmalade lover too. And candied orange and lemon peel...don't you love that? I never see it here.
When we lived in Australia an elderly woman took a liking to my husband and used to give him huge jars of her grapefruit marmalade. Mmmmm, good! Orange is my favourite. Whiskey marmalade eh? I'd like to try it :)
Paddington..good little bear! haven't seen him for ages.
