And so the story grows

On the way back home from Rothesay on the Isle of Bute we passed by Loch Tarsan. This is a Hydro Electric Loch with a dam at the west end. I've heard there is good fishing here (brown trout). What l have also heard is that there is a village under this dam- the village was flooded when the dam was built (1953). It is said that if you stand on the bank on a Sunday morn. you can still hear the church bell chime- or so the story goes :)

The ferry home

Tarsan Dam

Loch Tarsan with the drowned village under :o

Loch Riddon & Loch Ruel

Another farm

Kyles of Bute-if we had driven on to Tighnabruaich this is the view we would have had.

Nearly home folks :)

It makes me sad that you live in such an unattractive and uninteresting place. Really, really sad.

There are places in Ky and along the Mississippi river in Ky where whole villages are below...shivers about the church bell!!

When we went camping in West Wales last year we stayed next to a resivour with a huge damn like that. The resivour took ages to cycle around, but it was great to keep the kids busy each day!

Lovely photos! I enjoyed the journey, but the ferry home must be the best bit. "there's no place like home!"

What beautiful scenery. I hang my head in shame and admit I have never been to Scotland, but it was good to see the name Tighnabruaich again - our neighbours in the late 1980s gave their house that name as it's where she hailed from.

Hey you said "dam"! hehe Don't you remember giggling in school when you had to say words that reminded you of those "other" words? lol Such beautiful pictures once again...I could very easily fall in love with your country, the scenery and landscape is absolutely amazing!! xox

I was here late last night, but too tired to comment. This morning I see you have a beautiful new template, but the pics in your 2 latest posts are missing. I hope they come back.
I just sit here and sigh at your beautiful pictures of the countryside Horizon. What an enchanting part of the world you live in! How does it compare in your travel memories? Is it prettier than anywhere else you've ever lived? :) I think the feeling of ancient history is one of the appealing characteristics of the landscape. No matter, it's a breathtakingly beautiful part of the world. Thanks so much for sharing it.
