Neighbour, garden and soggy toast

I have started the morning with soggy toast- is this an omen? My daughter was making some toast; she shouts me in when it is ready; l grab some butter and spread, unbeknown that she had already done the same. Woe is me. My tomatoes are falling off left, right and centre! lol

The photos of the garden were taken yesterday- it was overcast and humid. I had deadheaded the roses earlier; you can see some still lying on the bench. This cottage style garden will look its best come August- everything is just getting ready to bloom. :)
I am so blessed with my neighbour, he loves gardening and we are often out the front at the same time. His wife passed on a few years back and he is now 87yrs. I admire his spirit and enjoy my time with him when we are gardening together- l think he feels the same. We will often bring each other out a cup of tea and chat across the railing.

the garden is beautiful, i am really curious to see how that fireplace replacement evolves. i have a special place in my heart for fireplaces, gardens too. Have you shopped ebay for mantels?

I must insist that you stop rubbing your glorious garden in the face of those of us who are too capricious to exert the level of effort required to bring such gobstopping results. Really. It's bad for business.

I love the idea of you chatting with your neighbor who is 87. I so miss my neighbor lady who moved to Texas. She would garden every day and she was 89!
She had so much wisdom to offer!
PS Your garden is lovely ....

Dragonfly- love your name- also love dragonflies!
This old victorian house has three fireplaces, l am keeping the other two but this one was a bit younger 1950's and is out to make way for the kitchen. It was cosy enough but not as nice as the origional ones. Thanx for stopping by.

lol- lorraine- that's why it's a cottage garden- l don't have to fuss- too much ;)

Sue= so true, if l am not sure about something l ask my neighbour- he knows sooo much! Wonderful ((Sue))

Your two blog couldn't be more different...but the other made bme giggle!
Thank for letting me admire your garden. I have to share the latest craze in the states for growing tomatoes...
Put the seedling in the bowwl of a hanging pot--sticking out the hole and water it from the top. then no need to prop or tie up the tomatoes. Sound crazy but I've seem some happy tomatoes this year.
